  •  Nearly a million children worldwide will not make it to the age of 5 this year.  In the United States alone it’s approximately 8,000 children, or nearly one child per hour.  This isn't due to war, disease or famine.  We're losing these children from accidental injuries, most of which could have been prevented, and that's why Safe Kids CPR was started.  It's time we turn this around.
  • ​ 72% of parents are not aware that accidental injuries are the leading cause of death in children.  Awareness is the first step, and parents taking action and learning life-saving skills comes next.  
  • ​ Did you know that the average response time of 911 is over 10 minutes? Parents and caregivers need to know what to do in an emergency as you'll never know who will be around in a time of crisis.
  • ​ At least one child dies from choking on food every five days in the U.S., and more than 12,000 children are taken to a hospital emergency room each year for food-choking injuries.
  •  Suffocation and SIDS are the leading causes of death among children under the age of 1. 
  •  Drowning is the leading cause of death for those children ages 1 through 4 years old.
  •  Nearly 65,000 young children are treated every year in the Emergency Room for nursery related injuries.
  •  Half of the 2 million calls to the Poison help number involved children under the age of 5.
